John 11:4 When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.
Here Jesus is explaining to His disciples that he is allowing Lazarus to be sick on purpose. God is at work in the world and is going to use the sickness and death of Lazarus to bring glory to the Son of God. None of this is an accident or just happened but rather all of these events are on purpose. Yet reading verse 32 you find that God’s working in this situation caused his people some pain
John 11:32-33 Then when Mary was come where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died. When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled,
The work that Jesus was doing and bringing glory to Himself and to God caused His people some temporary pain. What is awesome to me is that Jesus felt the pain of Mary. He was troubled and groaned in His spirit when He saw the pain that Mary was feeling. Jesus felt her pain and was not untouched by it.
John 11:35 Jesus Wept.
We know that sometimes God getting the glory from our lives means that we have to go through hard and trying times. But God is so very good. He knows are pain and it troubles Him. God feels and truly cares about His children. We serve an amazing God!
